Yerköprü Waterfall Nature Park

The most suitable period to visit Yerköprü Waterfall is April-May. During this time, the flow rate of the Ermenek Stream is high, so the waterfall flows most vigorously; moreover, since Mersin's scorching summer has not yet begun, the hiking trail is much more enjoyable. Late May is particularly highlighted among visitors.

The region can be quite hot during the summer months. If you plan to go during this period, we recommend starting before noon; it will be cooler and the park less crowded. Autumn is also a good option, but the waterfall's flow rate may be lower compared to spring. In winter, roads and trails can present difficult conditions.

The waterfall is located within the borders of Mut district, affiliated with Mersin province, near the D340 highway. It is approximately 180 km from Mersin city center and 32-33 km from Mut district center. Private car is the most practical and common mode of transportation. Searching for 'Yerköprü Şelalesi Tabiat Parkı Mut/Evren' on navigation is sufficient.

Public transport access is quite limited; we recommend researching minibus or shuttle options from Mersin or Mut in advance. After entering the park, you drive to a certain point, then the walking trail begins.

The hiking trail starts from the car park. This trail, which descends approximately 250 meters in altitude difference, consists of wooden stairs and organized dirt paths. The descent takes about 40 minutes; the ascent is more challenging and can exceed 1 hour. Visitors report that there is a water fountain every 50 meters along the trail; this provides great convenience, especially in hot weather.

When you reach the platform at the base of the waterfall, you can watch the 29-meter cascade up close. It is also possible to reach the cave where the water originates; drinking from the cold spring emerging from the cave is among the experiences recommended by visitors. For families with children and those with limited mobility, the ascent can be quite challenging, so plan accordingly.

The section where the water flows out of the cave is also a strong point both visually and photographically. The entrance and interior of the turquoise natural water tunnel also offer striking shots.

The valley view from various points of the trail is also worth photographing. In the morning hours, when the light is best, both photo quality increases and you avoid crowds. Bringing a waterproof case for your phone or camera will be practical due to the humidity and water mist around the waterfall.

There are no food or beverage sales within or immediately around the waterfall area; visitors frequently warn about this. You need to bring sufficient water and snacks with you. This preparation is even more important for families with children.

Although there are restaurants within the park, it is stated that they are closed on Mondays. There are various restaurants and cafes in Mut district center; you can take a break here before or after visiting the waterfall.

Appropriate clothing and footwear are essential for this visit. Choose non-slip hiking shoes and comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Since the trail includes dirt and wooden stairs, descending with sandals or flip-flops can be dangerous.

The ascent is much more challenging and tiring compared to the descent. Elderly visitors and those with chronic health problems should assess this beforehand. A serious lack of sensitivity regarding litter is observed among visitors; to protect the natural area, bring your trash with you and dispose of it at appropriate points. Cell phone network coverage may be weak around the waterfall; be prepared for this.
