Karaekşi Nature Park

The best time is during the spring months, between March and May. During this period, the plane and red pine trees are at their most vibrant, and the stream flows abundantly and loudly. In summer, the weather in Mut can be quite hot; it's wiser to prefer early morning hours for summer visits. Autumn also offers a pleasant atmosphere with changing colors, but the stream's flow decreases during this time.

Karaekşi Nature Park is located approximately 130 km from Mersin city center, near Hacınuhlu village in Mut district. Coming by private car is the most practical option. After reaching Mut center, simply follow the nature park signs along the road.

Important warning: The vast majority of visitors state that navigation apps direct them to narrow, unpaved roads passing through the village. Following the signs from Mut center offers a route that is both shorter and much smoother.

There is a country restaurant and a sales kiosk within the park. Picnic tables and grills are also available, so you can bring your own food and eat by the stream. We recommend confirming the current rules regarding barbecuing before entering; some visitors request restrictions on this matter.

The most captivating shots of the park come from under the plane trees stretching along the stream and from the wooden platforms over the water. The park is located at coordinates 36°40′46″N 33°28′01″E; these areas where the stream and forest intertwine offer interesting spots for nature photographers. In the early morning, the light is softer and the park is quieter; these hours offer significantly better conditions for photography.

Karaekşi Nature Park is an area designed for day trips. 2 to 4 hours are sufficient for picnicking, taking a short nature walk on the existing trails, and using the children's playground. It can be considered a half-day stop to add to your itinerary while visiting Mut district.

There is an entrance fee to the park; confirm the current tariff before you go. The park's closing time is 19:00. Instead of relying on navigation apps, follow the signs from Mut center; otherwise, you might wander for a long time on unpaved roads through the village. Toilets, a prayer room, and ablution facilities are available in the park; visitors state that these areas are kept clean. Picnic areas can get crowded on weekends and holidays.

Established in 1965 and affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in 2011, Karaekşi Nature Park, with its 8.5-hectare area, is one of the important green recreation spots in Mut district. The park stretches along a stream flowing into the Göksu River; it hosts various tree species, especially plane, red pine, oak, and juniper. It has picnic tables, grills, a children's playground, a sales kiosk, a country restaurant, toilets, a prayer room, and a car park. Short nature walks can also be taken on the existing trails.
