Millet Han is a two-story caravanserai built in Arapgir in the 1850s, and its restored structure welcomes visitors with a restaurant in the courtyard and boutique hotel rooms.
The exact construction date of Millet Han is not documented. The place of the inscription stone is empty, with no writing on it. The common belief among the people of Arapgir is that it was built in the 1850s; some sources also mention the date 1887-1888 and that it is a waqf (endowment) work. It was built as a two-story structure from cut stone, with 12 shops on the ground floor and 13 shops on the upper floor. The front of the shops is in the form of an arcade supported by wooden pillars, and in the middle, there is an open, square-plan courtyard with a pool and a fountain.
The building was used as an accommodation and shopping center on trade routes during the Ottoman period. The han, which deteriorated over time, was restored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism between 2009-2011; its roof had been renovated earlier, in the 1980s, with sheet metal cladding. After the restoration, the upper floor was converted into a boutique hotel, and the shops on the ground floor became cafe-restaurants and sales areas.
Today, most visitors come here for two purposes: to see the historical texture or to eat local food at the restaurant in the courtyard. Comments praise the soups and the atmosphere of the place, describing it as a "calm, quiet, and pleasant" spot. However, complaints about the restaurant service are also not few.
