Seyyid Burhaneddin Tomb

Seyyid Burhaneddin Muhakkık-ı Tirmizî is one of the leading mystics of the 13th century. Originally from Tirmiz, this great scholar was both the first teacher and spiritual guide of Mevlânâ Celâleddin Rumi. Seyyid Burhaneddin, who played a decisive role in shaping Mevlânâ's Sufi journey, spent his last years in Kayseri and passed away there around 1240-1241. His tomb has become a symbol of the city's tradition of knowledge and wisdom; it stands out as one of the most important spiritual places visited in Kayseri.

The tomb is open to visitors all year round. Visits are more enjoyable in spring and autumn when the surrounding greenery is at its most vibrant. The shade of the centuries-old plane trees provides natural coolness, especially in summer, to protect from the heat. Weekday mornings, when crowds are smaller, are a good choice for a peaceful visit.

The tomb is located in Kayseri city center on Talas Street, within the cemetery known as Seyyid Burhaneddin. It is possible to reach it by municipal buses that use the Talas Street route from the city center.
