The most attractive period to visit Kesikköprü Dam Lake is the summer season, extending from May to September. During these months, the lake water is suitable for swimming and water sports; the shores come alive with picnicking families and anglers. Kesikköprü Dam Lake is located approximately 70 kilometers from Ankara city center, within the borders of the Bala district. The most practical way to get there is by private car. After passing through Gölbaşı district from Ankara, you can reach the dam by continuing in the direction of Bala; the road is generally smooth and signposted.

Public transportation options are quite limited. While it is possible to reach Bala by bus or minibus, an additional means of transport may be required for the last few kilometers to the dam lake. Therefore, especially for families and those carrying equipment, choosing a private car or rental car provides a much more comfortable experience.

Do not expect large restaurant or cafeteria infrastructure around the dam lake; the area is more of a natural recreation spot. Those planning a picnic are advised to procure food and drinks from Ankara or from the Bala district along the way. Barbecue areas and picnic tables allow you to enjoy eating outdoors all day long.

You can set off from Ankara early in the morning and head towards Bala via Gölbaşı. This route, where you can also see Beynam Forest along the way, offers a pleasant drive in itself. After resting with a picnic at noon, you can spend the afternoon fishing or walking along the shore.
