On this two-day route, we will explore 9 stops, starting from the heart of Bursa and extending to the foothills of Uludağ, then to the peaceful atmosphere of historical Gölyazı and the hidden caves of nature. Reşat Oyal Culture Park

Reşat Oyal Culture Park, which I can call the green heart of Bursa, is a huge breathing space right in the city. Serving the people of Bursa since 1955, this park, with its 40 hectares, hosts running tracks, ponds, and even an amusement park. Easily accessible due to its central location, you can enjoy the greenery and tranquility, and walk by the pond. You can spend about 1.5 hours here, both resting and spending time intertwined with nature.

Hüdavendigar City Park

Our next stop after Reşat Oyal Culture Park is Hüdavendigar City Park, one of Bursa's largest city parks. This 510,000 square meter area, spread across both banks of the Nilüfer Stream in the west of the Çekirge district, is truly impressive. With walking and cycling paths along the stream, children's playgrounds, and cafeterias, it appeals to visitors of all ages. Canoe and pond tracks are a bonus! You can also spend about 1.5 hours here enjoying yourself.

İnkaya Historical Plane Tree

This colossal plane tree, encountered in İnkaya Village on the way to Uludağ, has a history of over 600 years. Considered one of Turkey's oldest trees, this monumental plane tree presents a truly majestic appearance with its height reaching 35 meters and a trunk circumference of 9.2 meters. You can sit in the tea gardens in its shade, feel the serenity of this historical witness, and buy local products. This is a great stop when going up or down Uludağ. About 1-1.5 hours should be enough.

Bursa Teleferik

Bursa Teleferik, one of Bursa's symbols, is Turkey's first and longest cable car line connecting the city center to Uludağ. As you reach Sarıalan Station, at an altitude of 1,635 meters, in approximately 22 minutes, the panoramic view of the Bursa plain and mountains will mesmerize you. Offering a different experience in every season with its four modern stations, the cable car is also an ideal starting point for those who want to picnic and hike in the foothills of Uludağ. You should allocate at least 1.5 hours for this experience.

Weeping Plane Tree

We start our second day with the legendary Weeping Plane Tree at the entrance of Gölyazı. Standing for approximately 750 years on the shore of Lake Uluabat, this monumental plane tree seems to be weeping with the water seeping from its trunk. This tree, whispering the forbidden love story of the Greek girl Eleni and the Turkish young man Mehmet, has international monument-tree status. Fish restaurants and tea gardens with lake views are a bonus. You can spend 1.5 hours here, listening to the tree's story and getting used to the atmosphere of Gölyazı.

Gölyazı Village

Right next to the Weeping Plane Tree is Gölyazı Village, the pearl of Lake Uluabat. Known as Apollonia ad Rhyndacum in ancient times, this peninsula village, with its history dating back to the 6th century BC, is like an open-air museum. As you wander through its narrow stone streets, you will see old Greek houses, fishing boats, and the Church of St. Panteleimon. You can take a boat tour on the lake or relax in the village cafe. Allocate at least 1.5 hours to enjoy this charming village.

Lake Uluabat (Apolyont Lake)

Lake Uluabat, surrounding Gölyazı, is one of Turkey's important freshwater lakes. This lake, extending in an east-west direction, also attracts attention with its rich bird population. The lake view is especially stunning in the morning mist. You can eat fresh lake fish at local restaurants on the shore and enjoy the lake with a boat tour. I recommend allocating 1.5 hours here to spend peaceful time intertwined with nature.

Ayvaini Cave

Near Lake Uluabat, stretching between the districts of Mustafakemalpaşa and Nilüfer, Ayvaini Cave holds the distinction of being Turkey's sixth longest cave. This 5.5-kilometer underground corridor opens up to another world with its stalactites, stalagmites, and travertine formations. The cave, which has two separate entrance points, offers an unforgettable experience for nature and adventure enthusiasts. It would be good to allocate approximately 1.5 hours for cave exploration.

Gelemiç Village Cave (Gavur İni Cave)

Gelemiç Village Cave, located near Ayvaini Cave, is also known as Gavur İni Cave among the public. Situated within the Kayalıdere Canyon in Keles district, this cave bears historical traces from the Byzantine period. This region, accompanied by steep canyon views and the Kocasu River, is a great discovery point for nature hikers. The cave's massive entrance and large chambers will impress you. You can spend 1.5 hours here to experience both historical and natural beauties together.

These two days you will spend in Bursa will allow you to escape the city crowds and be intertwined with nature, as well as witness its deep-rooted history. In many of the places we visited, you can find restaurants and cafes where you can taste local delicacies. For transportation, you can use urban public transport and the cable car on the first day, and a private car or taxi for Gölyazı and the caves on the second day. Have fun in advance!
