On the south of the island, Adır Church, part of the monastery complex founded in the 11th century, is also known as Saint Georges Church. How to Get to Adır?
From Van city center, Gevaş district can be reached by road in approximately 40 minutes. Access to Adır Island is provided by boats departing from Gevaş pier or Akdamar Pier. According to visitor comments, boat fees vary between 200–300 TL per person; the last boat from the island is stated to depart at 18:00. It is stated that there is no specific restriction for return, and you can board a boat and return whenever you wish. It is best to learn current departure times and prices from pier officials.
How Much Time Should Be Allocated?
Adır Island is usually planned as a half-day additional stop next to Akdamar Church. 2–3 hours, including the boat trip, visiting the church, and resting on the island, will be sufficient.
