Selimiye Mosque, built in Altınordu, Ordu during the Republican era, features a mihrab moved from the 18th-century Orta Mosque and can be visited free of charge.
The name of this mosque in Ordu's Selimiye Neighborhood is often confused with the famous Selimiye in Edirne, yet the two are completely different structures. The mosque in Ordu was built during the Republican era and has no connection to Mimar Sinan's work. Nevertheless, it holds historical value in its own right.
The detail that makes the mosque truly special is its mihrab. The mihrab of the Orta Mosque, built in the 18th century, was later placed in this new structure. Although the main body of the mosque is new, the corner where prayers are performed carries a two-hundred-year history. When exploring Ordu city center, it can be considered a brief stop on Taş Ocak Street.
