Eşen Lake

The most productive period to visit Eşen Lake is between April and June. During these months, the red pine and black pine forests take on their most vibrant green hues, and the lake water is at its best in terms of fullness. Although temperatures in the region increase in mid-summer (July-August), the 850-meter altitude provides coolness compared to the city center; the area's 500-person capacity may be full on weekends. October and November offer a special charm for autumn colors; the forest cover in yellow and orange tones also provides a great opportunity for photography. In winter months, roads can be slippery, so it is necessary to check the weather forecast before visiting.

Eşen Lake is located within the borders of the Beyağaç district, affiliated with Denizli province. There are regular minibus services from Denizli city center to Beyağaç; we recommend calling the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality transportation line for minibus routes and times. Using a car on the road connecting the lake from Beyağaç district center is the most practical option. Those coming by private car can reach the location by searching for Eşen Lake, Uzunoluk Mahallesi, Beyağaç on Yandex Maps. For those planning a hiking route, Yeniçeşme village can be used as a starting point.

2-4 hours is sufficient to spend time in the picnic areas around the lake and enjoy the view. For those who want to complete the approximately 16.65 km hiking route starting from Yeniçeşme village, allocating 4-6 hours would be a more realistic plan. The area alone does not constitute a full-day program; a full day can be spent by combining it with other natural spots in Beyağaç and its surroundings.

The most striking shots at Eşen Lake are obtained in the sections opening to the lake's coastal coves. The reflection of red pine and black pine trees on the water surface offers powerful compositions in the early morning hours when the light is soft. During autumn, the color transitions on the forest floor are ideal for wide-angle lenses. Points framing the silhouette of the Gölğeli Mountains along the hiking route also attract attention; it is possible to take panoramic shots covering the entire lake from higher sections.

We do not have current and verified information regarding the presence of a permanent food and beverage facility in and around Eşen Lake. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you bring your own food and drinks for your visit. Picnic areas are suitable for this purpose; you can inquire about whether barbecues are allowed from the Beyağaç Forest Management Directorate. There are small businesses in Beyağaç district center where you can meet your basic needs.

Since the area is designated as an in-forest recreation area, avoiding behaviors that harm nature is both a legal obligation and an ethical responsibility. Take your trash with you; do not light unauthorized fires as the risk of forest fires is high in forested areas. Keep in mind that the daily visitor capacity is limited to 500 people, so it can be crowded on weekends. The terrain on the hiking route can be uneven; do not embark on long routes without appropriate footwear and sufficient water. Cellular signal reception may be weak in the region, so downloading an offline map would be a practical precaution.

You can arrive in Beyağaç in the morning, take a short walk along the shore of Eşen Lake, and then have a lunch break in the picnic area. In the afternoon, you can explore a section of the hiking route around Yeniçeşme village and climb to the scenic spots offered by the Gölğeli Mountains. On your way back, stopping at a local cafe in Beyağaç district center would be a nice way to conclude. If time permits before returning to Denizli city center, surrounding villages can also be added to the list.
