Baltacı Mehmet Pasha Fountain is an Ottoman fountain made of white marble, built in 1705, located opposite the Grand Mosque in Osmancık. It is the only surviving example of the four fountains commissioned by Grand Vizier Baltacı Mehmet Pasha.
Baltacı Mehmet Pasha Fountain is a trace left in his hometown by a Grand Vizier raised in Osmancık. Mehmet Pasha had four different fountains built in 1705 during his first term as Grand Vizier. This is the only structure that has survived. On its west-facing facade, there is an 18-line inscription on three white marble columns; it is built of cut stone and has a single tap.
The structure stands in Ulu Cami Mahallesi, in the center of Osmancık district, directly opposite the Grand Mosque. Over the years, as the road level has risen, the lower part of the fountain has been partially buried in the ground. This makes the passage of time visible on the structure. It can be visited in a few minutes along with a mosque visit, but it is a valuable stop for understanding the Ottoman-era texture of Osmancık.
It is popularly known as the charitable work of the Grand Vizier from Osmancık. The verses in its inscription and the marble craftsmanship attract the attention of travelers particularly interested in architecture and history. It is one of the simple but original examples of Ottoman-era charitable architecture in the Çorum province.

Buses depart from Çorum city center to Osmancık every hour from the bus station. After arriving in Osmancık center, Ulu Cami Mahallesi can be reached on foot in a few minutes. Since the fountain is directly opposite the Grand Mosque, you will see the fountain when you find the mosque.

The fountain itself can be explored in a few minutes. When you go to Osmancık, you can combine it with other historical sites such as the Grand Mosque, Koyunbaba Bridge, and Osmancık Castle for a half-day history tour.

Things to Note
Due to the road level rising over time, the lower part of the fountain is buried in the ground, so you can only see the upper section of the structure. There are no special arrangements around it to facilitate wheelchair access.
