Behramlar Mosque

Şanlıurfa is one of Turkey's hottest cities. Temperatures can exceed 40 degrees Celsius in summer; therefore, we recommend visiting Behramlar Mosque and the surrounding historical sites between October and April. In the early morning, you will find cooler weather and can visit in a calmer atmosphere, away from the crowds around Balıklıgöl. The area becomes quite lively during Ramadan; if you visit during this period, pay attention to prayer times.

Behramlar Mosque is located on Gümüş Street in Şanlıurfa's Kamberiye Neighborhood. Since it is within walking distance of Balıklıgöl, you can first reach Balıklıgöl and then walk from there. From the city center, municipal buses and minibuses operate regular services to the Balıklıgöl route. You can also easily reach it by taxi or by renting a car. Şanlıurfa Airport is approximately 35 km from the city center; after arriving in the city from the airport, you can continue by public transport or taxi.

It is much more efficient to visit Behramlar Mosque not alone, but as part of a route including the surrounding historical sites. Starting from Balıklıgöl, you can visit Rizvaniye Mosque and Madrasah, and then Dergah Mosque (Mevlid-i Halil Mosque), which houses the cave believed to be the birthplace of Prophet Abraham. Behramlar Mosque forms a natural stop on this route. A walking tour covering all these places will take approximately 2-3 hours. After completing the route, you can explore Şanlıurfa cuisine in the nearby bazaar.

Şanlıurfa cuisine is one of Turkey's most unique and rich regional cuisines. You can find many local restaurants and kebab shops around Balıklıgöl and in the historical bazaar area. Çiğ köfte, lahmacun, katmer, liver kebab, and beyran are among the flavors you must try. For breakfast, the small breakfast salons in the region are also quite good. Food prices are quite reasonable compared to big cities.

The mosque facade and narrow streets look quite impressive in the morning light. The reflections of Balıklıgöl, pigeons, and the surrounding historical structures also offer rich options for photography. When taking photos in the area, remember to respect the privacy of people worshipping.

Standard rules must be followed when visiting mosques: Take off your shoes at the entrance, and female visitors are expected to cover their heads. Avoid entering the prayer area during prayer times or choose to wait in a quiet corner. Summer temperatures in Şanlıurfa can be very intense; carry water with you and use sunscreen. Since the area is touristically active, it is recommended to pay attention to your wallet and belongings.
