Gelin Kayası Recreation Area

Gelin Kayası can be visited in any season. However, if you also want to see the waterfalls, late spring and early summer are more advantageous; water flow is stronger during this period. In mid-summer, the area on the hill offers a cool break from the heat. In winter, the wavy Black Sea can be observed from the hill, but roads can sometimes be rainy. Those traveling by car should take this into account.

For those coming from Ordu city center, the distance is 53 km, approximately an hour's drive. If traveling via Fatsa, there is a much shorter route of 20 km, so it makes sense to stop here while visiting Fatsa. Those without their own vehicle can reach the district center by minibuses going to Çamaş and then continue to the recreation area with a short walk or taxi.

There isn't just one waterfall in the region; there are four separate points: two versions of Değirmen Waterfall, one in the central village and one in Akköy, as well as Akköy Kuzguncuk Waterfall, Kestane Yokuşu Waterfall, and Kaşdere Waterfall. It's possible to visit all of them in one day, but it requires a vehicle and time. Starting the day at Gelin Kayası and then moving to the two closest waterfalls in the afternoon is a more relaxed plan.

While at Gelin Kayası, stopping by Hisarbey Mansion and Hisarbey Rock Tombs doesn't take much time. The mansion offers an example of historical architecture, while the rock tombs point to an older layer of the region. Since the district center is small, these points can be reached on foot.

Entry to Gelin Kayası is free, and there are no restrictions. The main expenses are transportation and any picnic supplies. There are no known entrance fees for the surrounding waterfalls either.

The area is located on a hill, so walking shoes are useful, especially if you plan to visit the waterfalls. Paths can become slippery on rainy days. Those picnicking should collect their trash, as the natural texture of the area is built upon this.

The view of the Black Sea from the hill offers the best shots near sunset. Among the waterfalls, Kaşdere Waterfall, with its rocky structure, is a preferred spot for photography.
