The Fasıllar Hittite Rock Monument lies on a small hill in Fasıllar neighborhood, Beyşehir district, Konya. However, the vast majority of visitors express serious concerns about the maintenance and accessibility of the site. It is recommended to pay attention to the following points before visiting:
- Road conditions: The approximately 3-4 km road leading to the monument is dirt and gravel; it can be quite risky to drive with low-clearance vehicles in rainy and muddy weather. High-clearance vehicles (SUVs) are more advantageous, but caution is still required.
- Do not pass through the village: Village roads are narrow and not suitable for reaching the monument; it is recommended to follow the sign visible approximately 250 meters after passing the mosque at the village entrance.
- Navigation is unreliable: Google Maps directions may lead you into the village or not show the correct path; you need to proceed carefully until you reach the sign.
- Lack of signage and information: Apart from a single information sign for the monument itself, there is no signage for other archaeological remains in the vicinity.
- General state of maintenance: Multiple visitors state that the site has been left to its own devices and appears quite neglected compared to its historical importance.
When to Visit?
The best time to visit the Fasıllar Hittite Rock Monument is during April-May and September-October. During these periods, the weather is mild, the surrounding landscape is green, and the view of Lake Beyşehir is an added bonus. In mid-summer, the region becomes quite hot and dry; if you still plan to go, choose the early morning hours. In winter, you may encounter challenging conditions on the village road, so it's good to be careful.
How to Get There?
From Konya city center, you travel approximately 90-100 km by road to Beyşehir. There are regular bus services from Konya bus station to Beyşehir. From Beyşehir, it is possible to reach Fasıllar village by local minibus or taxi; however, services are quite limited, so a private car is the most reliable option.
The road to the village entrance is partially unpaved (dirt). You can go with a standard car, but still be cautious in rainy weather. There is a small parking area near the monument; do not expect a large car park.
How Much Time to Allocate?
The Fasıllar Hittite Rock Monument alone is a half-day stop. 1.5-2 hours is sufficient to visit the monument along with the nearby Equestrian Rock Relief and Lukyanus Inscription. If you combine it with Beyşehir Lake National Park and Eşrefoğlu Mosque in Beyşehir, it makes for a full day of culture and nature tour. Since it can be done as a day trip from Konya, there is no need for an overnight stay.
Suggested Itinerary
Leave Konya early and first stop in Beyşehir; see the historical Eşrefoğlu Mosque, take a short walk along the shore of Lake Beyşehir. From there, go to Fasıllar village to visit the rock monument and its surrounding reliefs, then you can have a local lunch in Beyşehir around noon. Passing through the coastal sections of Beyşehir Lake National Park on the way back would be a nice closing point. You can easily complete this entire itinerary as a day trip from Konya.

Things to Know Before Visiting
The monument is located in an open area on natural ground; therefore, wearing comfortable and sturdy shoes is important. There are no food or beverage facilities in the area, so I recommend bringing water and snacks. Cell phone signal can be weak in the village; downloading maps and information beforehand for offline use will make your trip easier. Since the monument is a registered cultural asset, touching or climbing on any surface is prohibited.
What to Eat Nearby?
Restaurant options in Fasıllar village are quite limited. The best place for food is the town of Beyşehir, about 15-20 km away. Freshwater fish from Lake Beyşehir, especially carp and catfish, are among the unique local delicacies. In addition to fish dishes cooked in lakeside restaurants, you can easily find Konya's traditional meat bread (etli ekmek) and oven kebab in the region.
