Merik Mansion (Golden Pavilion)

Merik Mansion opens its doors Tuesday through Sunday, six days a week, from 10:30 to 16:30. Keep in mind that it is closed on Mondays. Ankara's mild weather in spring and autumn makes your visit much more enjoyable; in summer, spending time indoors can be a good alternative to escape the city's heat.

The idea for the construction of Merik Mansion was developed by businessman Ali Rıza Bozkurt. His mother's deep love for Ottoman-era furniture and artworks was the main inspiration for this magnificent structure. Designed with inspiration from Ottoman palace architecture, the mansion, despite being a private residence, today functions as a public museum.

Registered by the T.C. Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2008, the building holds the title of Turkey's first furniture and architecture museum. The gold gilding and leaf decorations that greet you from the moment you enter clearly reveal why the mansion is known as the Golden Pavilion. Every corner is filled with details reflecting the aesthetic understanding and living culture of the late Ottoman period.
